Autumn!

For me it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

The first day of Autumn is upon us and this time of year always has me feeling excited, perhaps it’s because I was born in October that I feel a special connection, but there’s just something magical about Autumn that fills my soul with happiness, it’s filled with beauty as the leaves turn on the trees, transforming our landscapes with a blanket of golds, reds, yellow and bronzed tones that glow in the Autumn sun! This season sees a shift in time as the days become shorter and we begin to prepare for cooler weather, wrapped in soft scarves and woollen jumpers whilst taking long walks in the countryside, absorbing all of nature’s wonders as it adapts itself for the coming months! Cosy nights in, curled up on the sofa warm and snug, this has got to be one of the best feelings ever! (Wouldn’t you agree?)

And as October appears on the horizon there’s a spooky feel in the air as the witching hour approaches and Halloween prepares to tiptoe up behind us, the anticipation of carving the pumpkin and trick or treating fills children with excitement as they compete for the spookiest costume!

Followed quite soon after by “Guy Fawkes” night and the amazement of the fireworks, as we look to the sky for what seems like a never-ending display of sparkling colours that light up the night as we gaze with wonder, the sounds of oohs and ahhh’s from the crowd with every bang! The smell of the bonfire filling the air as it crackles in the background whilst the manmade guy on top is at the peril of its flames!

For me Autumn is truly the most beautiful season of all, from pumpkins and fireworks to bonfires and the leaves on the trees, the colours of Autumn give us a rich and vibrant warmth as it prepares us for Winter, as easy as it is to complain about the drop in temperature and the shorter days, have you ever really stopped and taken in what Autumn gives in return, perhaps you should it really is something to be grateful for!
